Detail view

The detail view is where you inspect and manage a single object. It is laid out in two regions (see Page layouts): a content area down the centre and a right sidebar.

Content area

Metadata values

The object's property → value pairs. To change them, use the Edit view. The detail view shows them read-only (and the whole object is read-only when it is locked and you are below Supervisor).

Media

For an Item, the attached Media files. You can detach Media here.

Item Sets

The Item Sets this object belongs to.

Comments

Internal staff notes on the object. Anyone signed in (Researcher and above) can read and post comments. You can delete your own, and Supervisors can delete anyone's. Comments are private to staff and are removed if the object is deleted. See User roles.

Activity

The object's audit trail: every change made to it, by whom, and when, including field-level before/after values. The full activity log lives on the Activity log page.

Status & visibility

Under the thumbnail you will see Status and Visibility controls. They show the current state of an object and whether it is visible in the front-end. Status takes priority over Visibility: any object whose Status is not "Active" is hidden from the public front-end (anonymous visitors) even when its Visibility is set to public. Signed-in staff can still see such objects. The Visibility control itself does not change. It keeps the value you set.

Which statuses you can choose depends on your role. The control only offers transitions you are allowed to make:

Status Purpose Who can set / unset
Pending The object needs review, and the comments likely contain context. Editor / Editor
Migrated Imported into the database, but not yet ready to be considered Pending. Editor / Editor
Active Ready to be visible to the public. Editor / Editor
Archived Kept in the database for posterity, but should not be used. Editor / Editor
Error Something is wrong with the object (currently: missing files). Only the System sets it, and a Supervisor un-sets it. System / Supervisor
Copyright Pending Research is required to decide whether use would violate copyright. Supervisor / Supervisor
Copyright Violation Publishing would violate copyright, but the media is kept for posterity. Supervisor / Supervisor
DMCA Violation An organization has issued a takedown notice. Supervisor / Supervisor

Lock & NSFW

Two object flags, also in the sidebar:

  • Locked: freezes the object. While locked, nobody below Supervisor can edit or delete it, and the metadata, media, status, and visibility controls all become read-only. Only a Supervisor (or higher) can lock or unlock.
  • NSFW: marks the object as sensitive. NSFW objects are blurred with click-to-reveal in both the public and admin views. Enabling "show NSFW" in your settings shows them normally. An Editor or above can set this flag.
